Since the backplane has no possibility to store the information on the shelf (part number, serial
number, etc.), this information is stored in the SPARE/ATCA-A100 boards contained in a shelf.
The software on the board always updates this information on a newly inserted board from the
information stored in the other FRUs.

4.2.4.1

Before Installation

Before you install the ATCA-A100, consider changes to the jumpers or rotary switches
described in the following subsections.

Never exchange more than one of these FRUs (boards) at the same time to guarantee that the
shelf information stays consistent and up to date.

The board must only be operated in a shelf that is properly grounded.

Two SPARE/ATCA-A100 in the same shelf must always be set to the same SGA. Otherwise, the
software detects that the FRU information in the two alarm boards is different and stops the
power-up process. The red LED blinks and the boards are not powered.

Two SPARE/ATCA-A100 in different shelves must always be set to different SGAs. When set to
the same address, both SPARE/ATCA-A100 will start but network problems may occur.

In a Centellis 4100 system, never set the shelf address to 21 or 22 because these are the
default internal networks of the shelf. If you do so, network problems will occur.
