Start Up Procedure
During the start-up procedure, it is not necessary to set the handle switch. If you want to
inform the shelf management software of the PEM insertion, you can set the handle switch. If
not, you can set the handle switch to the Closed position before installation and leave in this
position during the whole start-up procedure.
1. Put on an ESD wrist strap.
2. Connect the strap to the shelf by attaching the front or rear ESD jack.
3. If you do not want to inform shelf management about the insertion, ensure that the
handle switch is set to the Closed position before insertion. If you do want to inform
shelf management about the insertion, set the handle switch to the Open position.
4. Ensure that the breaker is in the OFF (tripped) position (the red portion is visible on
the top of the breaker). If the breaker is not in the OFF position, trip the breaker to
the OFF position.
5. To ensure that the PEM is not engergized, check voltage at the power studs.
