User rights management
Adding the new user to the Xmedia Server’s security credentials
Earlier a new user was created. With the XMS Service now stopped, you must grant
administrative rights (read/write) to the user on the Xmedia Server machine.
To grant the user administrative privileges to the Xmedia Server:
1.
Start and log into the Xmedia Server as an Administrator user.
2. Add the newly created user as an administrator to the XMS machine.
3. Return to the Control Panel and open the Microsoft S ERVICES console by selecting
A DMINISTRATIVE T OOLS >S ERVICES .
4. Navigate down the list of services to the X MEDIA S ERVER service. Right-click on the
Xmedia Server Service and select P ROPERTIES . The X MEDIA S ERVER P ROPERTIES dialog
box appears (figure 20-30 ).

5. Select the L OG O N tab and change the Log On as assignment from the local system
account to the newly created domain account.

Press the B ROWSE button. The S ELECT U SER dialog box appears (figure 20-31 ).

b. Type the domain user’s name in the text box and press OK.
c. Press OK on the X MEDIA S ERVER P ROPERTIES dialog box to close it.
6. Close the S ERVICES console and the A DMINISTRATIVE T OOLS windows.
