Configuring the Authorization Manager to use an XML file stored
on a network share
Authorization Manager supports the storage of the Policy Store’s repository in an .xml file
that is stored on an Windows NT file system (NTFS) volume. The XML policy store should
be stored on the Xmedia Server as a shared file.
If you select to store the Policy Store in an XML file, you’ll need to designate its location in network-
accessible folder structure by its path and specify particular permissions for that file.
To assign the Policy Store repository as an XML file:
1.
Open the Authorization Manager snap-in window (see page 20-24 ). Then, right-click
the Authorization Manager node in the left column and select the N EW A UTHORIZATION
S TORE command.
The N EW A UTHORIZATION S TORE dialog box appears (figure 20-25 ).

2. Specify the directory path and file name for the XML file in the S TORE N AME field on the
N EW A UTHORIZATION S TORE dialog box (the XML repository must be stored in a
network-accessible folder).
Type a path and file name that will be valid at run time.
We recommend using the following format: \\\
Alternatively, you can use the L OCATIONS button to navigate to the directory location,
or you can create a new folder where you will store it.
3. Optional - Type a description of the new authorization store in the D ESCRIPTION text
box.
4. Click OK.
