The flash is allocated for storing the binary code of the BIOS. The ATCA-7470 boots from the
primary flash SPI 0 under normal circumstances. If booting BIOS from primary flash SPI 0 fails,
a hardware mechanism automatically changes the flash device select logic to boot from the
recovery flashSPI 1. The image that the processor will boot from after next reset is determined
by the IPMC. It can be selected via dedicated IPMI OEM command.

Ethernet Ports

The Blade utilizes various Ethernet controllers that serve the ATCA Base I/F, Fabric I/F, and
faceplate. All Ethernet interfaces have 10/100/1000Base-T capability except for the Fabric I/F
controller which can operate at 40GBASE-KR4,10GBASE-KR,10GBASE-KX4,1000Base-KX:
Option1, 1-K,1-KR,9,9-K,9-KR. The redundant fabric I/F is fully operable in 40G, 10G, or 1G
mode without the presence of an RTM.

Two 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports are available on the front panel. Additional Ethernet
ports for external access are provided via different RTMs.The Ethernet controllers support I/O
virtualization.

ATCA Base IF Link Status Pass Through

The link status (link up/down) of the Base interface is passed to the corresponding link between
Intel DH8900CC MAC controller and Marvell 88E6161 Phy.
