Processor
ATCA-7470 provides two Intel Xeon E5-2648L (E5-2658 for ATCA-7470-xGB-CE variants) octal-
core processors as the central processing unit (CPU). Both CPUs are based on 32 nm process
technology and provide the following main features:
1.8 GHz core frequency
32 KB L1 instruction cache per core
32 KB L1 data cache per core
256 KB L2 cache per core
20 MB L3 cache shared among the ten cores (2.5 MB per core)
Each CPU provides 40 PCIe lanes up to Gen3 speeds (8GT/s)
Each CPU provides one x4 DMI/PCIe port to connect to PCH or PCIe device
LGA2011 socket R
The processors are connected with each other through 2 Intel QuickPath Interconnect point-
to-point links capable of up to 8 GT/s, both Xeon CPUs provide an integrated 4-channel DDR3
Memory Controller (IMC).
5.3
Memory
The Xeon CPU features an integrated DDR3 memory controller. The memory controller
provides four independent memory channels that allow flexible memory configurations.
ATCA-7470 provides one DIMM slot per memory channel and thus a 1DPC (DIMM per channel
configuration). Use of 2-rank DIMM is essential in this configuration to have the best data
bandwidth throughput.
ATCA-7470 supports following DDR3 memory DIMMs:
DDR3 RDIMM (registered) with ECC support
Very Low Profile
Max 2 ranks per DIMM
Min 2 ranks per DIMM for best performance
