Managing and using the client application

eCopy ShareScan OP supports the client application on the following types of devices:

A multifunction product (MFP) device with the ShareScan OP client installed, or embedded, on
it.

An MFP or scanner connected to an eCopy ScanStation.

Managing embedded clients

The ShareScan OP client is contained in a JAR file that you install on the MFP device. You manage
and configure the embedded client using the appropriate service for the MFP

. You do not

manage the embedded client

from the ShareScan OP Administration console.

Managing ScanStation OP clients

You manage and configure the ScanStation OP client from the eCopy ShareScan OP
Administration console. Management functions include the following tasks:

Selecting a different TWAIN driver for the ScanStation client (see “Selecting a different TWAIN
driver for the ScanStation client” on page 158).

Configuring the client to use the TWAIN driver’s interface (see “Configuring the client to use
the TWAIN driver’s user interface” on page 158).

Starting and stopping the ScanStation client (see “Starting and stopping the ScanStation client
from the console” on page 159).

Specifying an exit password (see “Specifying an exit password for the ScanStation client” on
page 160).

Configuring the keyboard for the ScanStation client (see “Configuring the keyboard for the
ScanStation client” on page 161).

Configuring ScanStation logon settings (see “Configuring ScanStation logon settings” on
page 162).

Developers can use the console to select a test file and secure system keys for use with the SDK
simulator (see “Configuring advanced ScanStation settings” on page 163).
