Copying or exporting a template file
You can copy or export template files to or from an Brocade Virtual ADX by using the copy
command.
•
To copy a template file from an TFTP server, use the copy tftp file command in privileged mode.
VirtualADX#copy tftp file 1.1.1.1 test /opt/ADX/tmpl/ready/test2
Syntax: copy tftp file server-ip tftp-file adx-file-path
The server-ip variable is the IPv4 or IPv6 address of the TFTP server.
The tftp-file variable is the template file to copy from the TFTP server.
The adx-file-path variable is the path within the Brocade Virtual ADX for the file.

For ready-to-use templates that require no user input to execute, copy the template into
the /opt/ADX/tmpl/ready directory.

For user-defined templates that contain variables for user input before execution, copy the
template into the /opt/ADX/tmpl/userdef directory.
NOTE
You cannot copy templates in the pre-defined area, /opt/ADX/tmpl/predef.

To export a template file from the Brocade Virtual ADX to TFTP servers by using the copy file
tftp command in privileged mode.
VirtualADX#copy file tftp file 1.1.1.1 test test2
Syntax: copy file tftp server-ip tftp-file adx-file-path
The server-ip variable is the IPv4 or IPv6 address of the TFTP server.
The tftp-file variable is the destination template filename on the TFTP server.
The adx-file-path variable is the path within the Brocade Virtual ADX for the file.
NOTE
You can copy and paste raw XML into an editor.
Creating a ready-to-use template from an existing template
You can access an existing template in a template area on the Brocade Virtual ADX, change the
template by providing inputs from user prompts, validate the template, and save the modified
template with the user prompts into the ready-to-use template area.
To create a ready-to-use template from an existing template, use the template add-inputs
command in configuration mode.
VirtualADX(config)#template add-inputs Minimal.xml pre-defined test.xml
Validation of template /opt/ADX/tmpl/predef/Minimal.xml is successful against the
schema.
