Chapter 4 Installing the Level 2R Storage System

Basic operations for Level 2R storage

Use the following procedures as you work on your Level 2R storage system:

“Level 2R system power-off procedure”

“Level 2R system power-on procedure”

“Using FTP for file transfer”

“Administering and maintaining the K2 Storage

System” on page 333

Level 2R system power-off procedure

Use the following sequence to power-off the Level 2R storage system.

1. Power-off all K2 Media clients or other iSCSI clients.

2. From the K2 System Configuration application, in the tree view select the name of

the K2 Storage System, which is the top node of the storage system tree. Then click

the

Server Control Panel

button.

The Server Control Panel opens.

3. Take note of which is the primary K2 Media Server and which is the backup K2

Media Server. The order in which you put servers back into service when you
power up the K2 Storage System is dependent on their primary/backup roles at the
time when you power down the K2 Storage System.

4. For the backup K2 Media Server, click

Stop

. This takes the server out of service.

5. Shut down the backup K2 Media Server, if it does not shut down automatically.

6. For the primary K2 Media Server, click

Stop

. This takes the server out of service.

7. Shut down the primary K2 Media Server, if it does not shut down automatically.

8. Power-off the primary RAID controller chassis. If expansion chassis are

connected, make sure the power-off of the controller chassis is prior to or
simultaneous with the power-off of its connected expansion chassis. Wait
