In Local & Remote Mode, you can access M&C for both the local and distant-end modems.
As shown in Figure Q-6, Local & Remote Mode:
• Allows modem access through the ‘10/100 Ethernet | M&C 100’ (Dedicated Management) port for
both the local and distant-end modems:
o 1a. The ‘10/100 Ethernet | M&C 100’ (Dedicated Management) port permits User PC M&C
access to the local modem.
o 1b. The local modem accepts M&C communication from the User PC and responds accordingly.
o 2a. Packets destined to the distant-end modem from the local modem will be transmitted.
o 2b. M&C requests transmitted by the distant-end modem to the local modem will be forwarded
back to the local User PC.
o 3a. Packets received by the distant-end modem for M&C access from the local modem will be
accepted.
o 3b. The local modem will transmit a response to the distant-end modem.
• Does not allow M&C access to the local or distant-end modem through the ‘10/100 Ethernet |
Traffic 100’ Ethernet port.
