Appendix E. AUPC (AUTOMATIC UPLINK POWER CONTROL)
When you select AUPC and the modem is not in ‘Framed’ or IP-ACM mode, the modem displays
the following message:
Warning! AUPC needs
Frame Mode or IP-ACM
When you select AUPC and the modem is in ‘Framed’ mode, the screen appears as follows:
AUPC:Remote EbNo =14.0dB
TX Power Increase =2.2dB

The top line displays the value of E

/N
0
of the demodulator at the distant end of the satellite
link. The E
b
/N

displays Unlock if the remote demod is unlocked.

The bottom line shows how much the AUPC system has increased the output power. If you
do not enable AUPC, the value of Tx Power Increase shows as 0.0 dB.
When you select AUPC and the modem is in ‘IP-ACM’ mode, the screen appears as follows:
AUPC:Modem is in IP-ACM
TX Power Increase =2.2dB

The top line identifies the modem as being in IP-ACM mode.

The bottom line shows how much the AUPC system has increased the output power. If you
do not enable AUPC, the value of Tx Power Increase shows as 0.0 dB.
