D.1.3.3 SNMP Interface

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an Internet-standard protocol for
managing devices on IP networks. An SNMP-managed network consists of three key
components:

The managed device – This includes the CDM-570A/570AL-IP.
•
The SNMP Agent – The software that runs on the CDM-570A/570AL. The CDM-570A/570AL-
IP SNMP Agent supports both SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c.
•
The user-supplied Network Management System (NMS) – The software that runs on the
manager.

Comtech EF Data provides a Telnet interface for the purpose of equipment monitor and control
(M&C) using either remote control commands and queries or, when equipped with the optional
Packet Processor, the Telnet Command Line Interface (CLI) (Figure D-1).
