LTO Firmware to Data Tape Creator
CAUTION:
This utility is destructive and will overwrite data on the media that is present in your
product.
Description
This utility converts a previously created firmware upgrade tape back
to a normal data tape on your Ultrium drive.

When to run
Run this utility script when you want to convert an Ultrium FUP tape back
to a data tape.
Average duration
< 2 minutes
Other notes
Test will overwrite all data on the media.

Read Media IDs
In L&TT 4.3, the Read Media IDs utility is replaced by the
Library Read Write test (page 118)
. To
run the equivalent of the Read Media IDs utility with the Library Read Write test, use the default
values for all options, except:
•
Change Starting slot to the desired value.
•
Change Number of test tapes to the desired value or to all to test all tapes from the
Starting slot
to the end of the library slot range.
•
Change Ignore barcode labels and media type when selecting tapes
to
FALSE
if non-SDLT barcodes or no barcodes are used.
Tape Erase utility
CAUTION:
This utility is destructive and will overwrite data on the media that is present in your
storage device.
Description
This utility converts a DDS, LTO, or SDLT data tape into a blank tape.
This utility has the following three options:
•
Quick erase
— (one minute) Removes the tape directory and
writes EOD at the start of the tape, but it does not overwrite the
data on the remainder of the tape. This option is not available for
SDLT.
•
Full erase
— (two to four hours) Erases the tape directory and
also overwrites all data on the tape.
•
Secure erase
— (10 to 20 hours) Performs a full erase followed
by a rewind. It repeats this four more times for a total of five full
erases.
