11.1 General Upgrading Panels via ECS
11.1.1 Important Information
All Eclipse panels may be upgraded using an installed and configured copy of ECS
and an active Eclipse matrix. The process for carrying out an ECS application
download to a panel or panels via an Eclipse matrix is detailed in this section.
Note: this procedure excludes ICS-21, 22 & 24.
In all cases, panels should initially be upgraded by using the Upgrade via ECS
method. Manual programming of PROMs should only be attempted if the ECS
download repeatedly fails to correctly upgrade a specific panel type.
Download of a panel application requires the use of a .4kp format file. This must be
placed in a location that is accessible by the installed ECS application.
Download of a panel application requires the Eclipse matrix to be running with the
panels to be updated connected and powered. Also required is a suitable ECS
configuration map with the correct IP address configured if using an Ethernet
connection.
Once the .4kp format file is downloaded to the Eclipse matrix, ALL panels of the
same type will be upgraded at the same time via an automatic download from the
Eclipse matrix to the panel (excluding 4000 Series II panels).
Each panel type requires a different .4kp format file but the Eclipse matrix
determines the panel type before attempting any download so it is NOT necessary to
disconnect panels of a different type to prevent an inadvertent download.
4000 Series II panels require a power recycle to initiate the upgrade.
