4.3 Updating the Eclipse-PiCo / E32 Application
Four methods are detailed for upgrading configuration card application code:
• By ECS using a serial link
• By ECS using ethernet
• By S4 Driver using a serial link
• By TeraTerm using a serial link
Note: for upgrades from version prior to V4.1 the upgrade has to use the
S4 driver or TeraTerm. Upgrade of configuration cards using ECS is only
appropriate for systems already running V4.1 Eclipse firmware on the
configuration cards.
ECS can connect to an E-Pico/E-32 via serial or ethernet. Ethernet will only
work if there is a valid configuration. If not, serial must be used. Ethernet is
faster and so preferable.
The first two methods (Eclipse configuration card application upgrade using
ECS) requires the use of correctly configured and up–to-date Eclipse
Configuration System (ECS) software from v4.1 onward. If this method is to be
used then ensure that the version of ECS to be used for the upgrade is the
current released version.
The third method of upgrading the configuration card application (Eclipse
configuration card application upgrade using S4 Driver) will result in the total
loss of any loaded maps/configurations and hence will result in the loss of any
IP address loaded into the configuration cards.
The fourth method of upgrading the configuration card application (Eclipse
configuration card application upgrade using TeraTerm) will result in the total
loss of any loaded maps/configurations and hence will result in the loss of any
IP address loaded into the configuration cards.
The configuration card upgrade process may be completed initially using a
serial connection to the frame, however once an IP address has been
configured using serial ECS, the matrix Ethernet connection can be used.
