1. Start the Renesas Flash Development Toolkit 3.4 BASIC .
2. After entering the settings you will be taken to the download window.
3. In the download window click on the ‘Options’ menu and ensure that ‘Auto
Disconnect’ is checked.
4. Ensure that ‘Download File Area’ has ‘User Area’ checked.
5. Ensure that the Download File radio button is selected.
6. Select ‘…’ for the User area and select the appropriate .MOT format file for the
MVX H8 application.
7. Navigate to the Eclipse MVX H8 application Code file as found on the Eclipse
release CD-ROM.

8. On the MVX card to be updated, ensure that jumper JP1 is made.
9. Connect the MVX serial cable between the COM port on the PC and CON8 on
the MVX to be updated. Note that the MVX connection is polarised to ensure
correct connection.

10. Insert the MVX card into the matrix frame.
11. Select Program Flash from the Flash Development Toolkit.
12. Confirm that FDT reports the image has been written successfully.
13. Select Disconnect on the FDT programme.
14. If the MVX card fails to programme:
• Reset (Re-seat) the MVX card.
• Select program Flash button again on the FDT program.
15. Remove the MVX card from the frame.
16. Remove the serial cable.
17. Remove jumper JP1.
18. Repeat steps 6 through 16 for each remaining MVX card.
