USB Storage

12.1 File Handling (USB)

File handling is achieved via a USB port. Three types of files are used,
configuration files which contain all user programmed parameters , screen capture
files and data log files. Configuration files can be written to and retrieved from the
USB port storage device. Data log files and bitmap files of screen captures can only
be written to the USB port storage device. To prevent loss of data, no more than
500 data log files should be written to the USB device. The Cygnus 2 will only
display the first 120 files (15 per page) and a message "More Files on the USB".
All files will be displayed on a computer.

The USB port is not set up for any other use. USB file handling allows for only eight
characters in a file name with an optional three-character extension.

NOTE: The USB storage device is to be plugged directly into the Cygnus 2 front

panel USB port. Use of USB extension cables is not supported.

12.2 Directory Structure

All files will be written to and read from pre-defined directories. Three directories
will be defined for the three types of files written by the Cygnus 2.

CYG2conf will hold configuration files

CYG2scrn will hold screen capture files

CYG2dlog will hold data log files

If the directories don't exist on the storage device attached to the USB port, the
Cygnus 2 will create them at the first attempt to access the directory.
