INFICON Pilot Plus Vacuum Gauge - Manual

The Pilot Plus is a digital gauge designed to accurately measure vacuum levels during evacuation of
HVAC/R systems from atmosphere down to 1 micron (0.001 Torr,
0.01 mbar, 1 Pa) using INFICON's proprietary "Pirani" sensor, the most accurate vacuum sensor in
its class.
Operating Instructions
1.
Remove the battery cover and install the 9-volt battery. An indicator shows when the battery
needs to be replaced.
2. Connect a dedicated or new charging hose to the Pilot Plus fitting.
2a. A previously used hose may contain oil that could affect the sensor performance.
2b. Normal refrigeration hoses outgas (leak) which may make it difficult to measure below 250
microns. We suggest using a metal braided hose for better accuracy.
2c. We recommend using a hose no longer than 3 feet. A longer hose may make the gauge unable
to read lower vacuum levels due to excessive outgassing.
3. Connect the other end of the hose directly to either the high or low side of the system for most
accurate readings. You can also connect the hose to one of the ports on the vacuum pump itself.
To connect the gauge in-line with a manifold set or the vacuum pump, you will need a separate
1/4" male by 1/4 " male by 1/4" female T fitting.
4. Turn the Pilot Plus on by pressing the On/Off button. Readings greater than 1500 are displayed
as 3 digits followed by the X1000 indicator. For example, a reading of 100,000 is displayed as
100
X1000 .
5. The Pilot Plus automatically turns off after 1 hour when the vacuum reading is above 30,000
microns. The last reading before auto shutdown and MEMORY are displayed for 5 seconds
when the unit is turned back on. Auto shut-down is disabled when the vacuum level is below
30,000 microns. However, you can turn the Pilot Plus off or on at any pressure.
Vacuum Units Selection
The Pilot Plus can display vacuum in units of Torr, microns, mbar or Pascal. To change units, press
and hold the power button for 3 seconds during power-up and the indicator for the active units
flashes. Briefly press the power button again to select the desired units. Press and hold the power
button for 1 second to save the setting.
Quick Calibration
The Pilot Plus has a quick calibration feature to allow for equalization to different atmospheric
pressures. Press CAL to activate. CAL flashes on the display and the reading stabilizes at 760 x
1000. The gauge will maintain this reference point until a new one is set. Note: quick calibration is
disabled at vacuum levels below 100,000 microns.
Changing The Filter
The Pilot Plus is equipped with a special filter to protect the vacuum sensor from oil and other
contaminants. To change the filter, remove the setscrew in the unit’s fitting. See Figure 1. Use an 11/
16" wrench to stabilize the top portion of the fitting. Then twist off the lower portion of the fitting using
a 1/2" wrench. Use needle-nose pliers or a similar item to gently pull out the used filter. Do not
attempt to clean or re-use filters. Insert a new filter with the thicker portion of the o-ring facing away
from the gauge's body. Re-attach the refrigerant flare. Tighten the fitting with the wrenches and
replace the set screw to ensure vacuum integrity.

altered by anyone other than INFICON.
This warranty is a replacement warranty for one-year. INFICON will not repair a unit within the

El Pilot Plus es un medidor digital diseñado para medir en forma exacta los niveles de vacío durante
la evacuación de sistemas de aire acondicionado y refrigeración desde atmósfera hasta 1 micra

Instrucciones de operación
1.
Retire la tapa de acceso a la pila e instale la pila de 9 voltios. Se encenderá un indicador en la
pantalla cuando deba cambiarse la pila.
2. Conecte una manguera de carga dedicada o nueva al conector ensanchado de refrigeración en
el Pilot Plus.
2a. Si se utiliza una manguera usada, ésta puede contener aceite y afectar el rendimiento del
sensor.
2b. Las mangueras de refrigeración normales eliminan gas (tienen fugas) lo cual puede dificultar
medir bajo 0,33 mbar. Sugerimos utilizar una manguera trenzada de metal para lograr una
mejor exactitud.
2c. Recomendamos usar una manguera que no tenga más de 1 m de longitud. Una manguera más
larga puede impedir que el medidor pueda leer niveles de vacío más bajos debido al exceso de
fugas.
3. Conecte el otro extremo de la manguera directamente al lado alto o bajo del sistema para
obtener las lecturas más exactas. Para mayor conveniencia, también puede conectar la
manguera a uno de los orificios de la bomba misma de vacío. Para conectar el medidor en línea
con un juego de múltiple o la bomba de vacío, necesitará un conector en T separado de ¼"
macho por ¼" macho por ¼" hembra.
4. Ponga en marcha el Pilot Plus pulsando el botón de encendido/apagado. Las lecturas que
excedan 1.500 aparecerán como 3 dígitos seguidos del indicador X1.000.
Por ejemplo, una lectura de 100.000 aparece como 100
X1.000 .
5. Pilot Plus se apaga automáticamente transcurrida 1 hora cuando la lectura del vacío es superior
a 40,00 mbar. La última lectura antes del apagado automático y la MEMORIA se mostrarán
durante 5 segundos cuando la unidad vuelva a encenderse. El apagado automático estará
desactivado cuando el nivel de vacío sea inferior a 40,00 mbar. Sin embargo, podrá apagar o
encender Pilot Plus con cualquier presión.
Selección de unidades de vacío
Pilot Plus puede mostrar el vacío en micrones, torr, milibares o pascales. Para cambiar las
unidades, mantenga pulsado el botón de encendido 3 segundos durante el encendido
y el indicador de las unidades activas parpadeará. Pulse brevemente el botón de encendido otra
vez para seleccionar las unidades que desee. Mantenga pulsado el botón de encendido durante 1
segundo para guardar la nueva configuración.
Calibración rápida
Pilot Plus dispone de una función de calibración rápida que permite la nivelación de distintas
presiones atmosféricas. Pulse CAL para proceder a la activación. CAL parpadeará en la pantalla y la
lectura se estabilizará en 1.013 mbar. El indicador mantendrá este punto de referencia hasta que se
defina uno nuevo. Nota: la calibración rápida se encuentra desactivada en niveles de vacío
inferiores a los 133 mbar.
Cambio del filtro
Pilot Plus está equipado con un filtro especial para proteger el sensor de vacío de aceite y otros
contaminantes. Para cambiar el filtro, retire el tornillo de fijación del conector de la unidad. Consulte
la Figura 1. Utilice una llave de tuercas de 11/16" para estabilizar la parte superior del conector. A
continuación, desenrosque la parte superior del conector con una llave de tuerca de 1/2". Utilice
unos alicates de punta o una herramienta similar para extraer suavemente el filtro usado. No intente
limpiar ni reutilizar los filtros. Introduzca un nuevo filtro con la parte más fina de la junta tórica
mirando hacia fuera de la caja del indicador. Vuelva a conectar el flujo de refrigerante. Apriete el
conector con las llave de tuercas y vuelva a colocar el tornillo de fijación para garantizar la
integridad del vacío.

Pilot Plus 真空ゲージは、空調 / 冷蔵システムの排気真空レベルを大気圧から 1Pa まで正確に測定す

操作説明
1. 電池収容部カバーを外し、9V 電池を取り付けます。電池交換が必要になると、表示のインジケー
タが点灯します。
2. Pilot Plus の冷蔵フレア接続部に専用ホースまたは新しい充填ホースを接続します。
2a. 以前に使用したホースを使用されるとオイルが含まれることがあり、センサーのパフォーマン
スに影響します。
2b. 通常の冷蔵ホースには脱ガスがあり、 33.30 Pa 以下の圧力測定が困難なことがあります。正確な
測定には、金属ホースの使用を推奨します。
2c. ホースの長さは 1 m 以下に止めてください。ホースが長くなると脱ガスが多くなり、ゲージ
が低レベルの真空を測定できなくなることがあります。
3. 最も正確に測定するには、ホースのもう一端をシステムの高 / 低側に直接接続します。便宜上、
ホースを真空ポンプ自体の末端に接続することもできます。ゲージをマニホルドまたは真空
ポンプに直列に接続するには、 T 字アダプタ (1/4" オス -1/4" オス
-1/4"
メス ) が別途に必要になります。
4. 電源 (On/Off ) ボタンを押して Pilot Plus を作動させます。測定値が 1,500Pa を超えると 3 桁
の数字と X1,000 インジケータで表示されます。たとえば、測定値 100,000Pa は、100 X1,000 と
表示されます。
5. Pilot Plus は、真空測定値が 4,000 Pa を超える場合、1 時間後に自動的にオフとなります。自
動シャットダウン前の最後の測定値およびメモリーは、装置がオンとなったときに 5 秒間表示
されます。真空レベルが 4,000 Pa より下回る場合、自動シャットダウンは無効となります。
ただし、どの圧力においても Pilot Plus をオフにしたりオンにしたりすることはできます。
真空単位の選択
Pilot Plus は、真空をパスカル (Pa)、マイクロン (microns)、トール (torr)、またはミリバール (mbar)
の単位で表示できます。単位を変更するには、電源を入れる際に電源ボタンを3秒間押し続けます。
有効である単位のインジケータが点滅します。目的の単位を選択するには、電源ボタンを再び軽く
押します。電源ボタンを 1 秒間押し続け、設定を保存します。
簡易校正
Pilot Plus には簡易校正機能が備わっており、異なる気圧に合わせて平準化することができます。
CAL ボタンを押すと校正は起動します。ディスプレイに CAL が点滅し、示数が 101 x 1,000 Pa で
安定します。新しい基準点を設定するまで、ゲージはこの基準点を維持します。注意 : 簡易校正は
13,300 Pa
未満の真空レベルでは無効です。
フィルタの交換
Pilot Plus は、油などの汚染物質から真空センサーを保護する特殊なフィルタが搭載されています。
フィルタを交換するには、ユニット取り付け部品の止めねじを取り外します。図 1 を参照してくだ
さい。 11/16" レンチを使用して、取り付け部品の上部分を安定させます。続いて 1/2" レンチを使
用して、取り付け部品の下部分を回転させて外します。ラジオペンチまたは同様のアイテムを使
用して、使用済みフィルタをゆっくり引き抜きます。フィルタはクリーニングしたり再利用したり
しないでください。O リングフェーシングの厚い方の部分をゲージ本体から離すようにして新しい
フィルタを挿入します。冷却剤フレアを再度取り付けます。レンチで取り付け部品を締め、真空が
確実に保たれるように止めねじを元の位置に付けます。
