Safety Distances
The safety distance is the minimum allowable mounting distance between the SL-V and the hazard point,
which allows complete stoppage of hazardous motion before an individual reaches the hazard point.
The starting point (origin) for the safety distance must be the center line of the SL-V‘s surface. (See below
figure.)
The following safety distance calculations are for cases where the detection zone is orthogonal to the
direction of approach.
For all other cases, you must refer to the laws, rules, regulations or standards in the country in which the
SL-V is installed.
The installation of the SL-V must ensure the required safety distance in compliance with the
requirements of laws, rules, regulations and standards in the country or region in which the
SL-V is installed.
Mounting the SL-V closer to the hazard point than the calculated safety distance can result in
serious bodily injury or death.
