b. If you want to assign a password to this module, type an encryption key in the “Encryption key for
the password” field.
Note: A password helps prevent the module from being unpacked by any process other than an
ImageUltra Builder process. When you assign an encryption key, the ImageUltra Builder program
assigns a password to the module. Encryption keys can be up to 64 characters long using any
combination of alpha-numeric characters. Symbols are not supported.
c. In the Comments field, you can remove any default comments and replace them with any comments
that you want to keep with the module.
14. In the OS/Languages tab, do the following:
a. In the left pane, put a check mark next to each language for which the module is intended to be used.
In most cases, I386 base operating-system modules are language specific and only one language is
typically selected. However, you can select multiple languages, if needed.
b. In the right pane, put a check mark next to the operating system for which this module applies.
15. In the Source tab, do the following:
a. In the Source Directory field, type the complete path to the folder that contains the I386 source files.
This might be a CD drive, local drive, or network drive.
Note: Do not use the I386 folder created during a previous installation. These files must come the
I386 folder of a Windows installation CD or files copied to another folder directly from a Windows
installation CD.
b. Leave the remaining fields blank.
16. Do not make any modifications in the Filters or Options tab.
17. Click the Save icon in the Main window tool bar.
18. Your I386 base operating-system module is ready to be built. Continue with “Building a new module” on
page 148.
Preparing source files for the UNATTEND.TXT module
Each I386 base operating-system module requires at least one UNATTEND.TXT add-on operating-system
module. The UNATTEND.TXT module contains two files:
• A customized UNATTEND.TXT file (either UNATTEND.W2K or UNATTEND.WXP, depending on the
operating system you are installing). This UNATTEND.TXT file enables the operating system to be installed
either unattended or moderately-attended.
• A special batch file (ModuleN.BAT) that dynamically replaces the default UNATTEND.TXT file in the I386
folder during installation with the customized version.
The UNATTEND.W2K, UNATTEND.WXP, and ModuleN.BAT files are provided as part of the ImageUltra
Builder program in the \SOURCE\COPYI386 folder of your repository. You cannot access these source files
from the ImageUltra Builder interface; you must use Windows Explorer or My Computer. If you cannot
remember the path to your repository, in the ImageUltra Builder Main window, click File and then click Open
Repository.... The repository paths are listed. You can use any repository that has been created by or
updated by the ImageUltra Builder 2.2 program.
Preparation of these source files involves the following steps:
1. Set up a source folder for each operating-system/language/customer combination. For example:
X:\ULTRAPORTABLE\2000\FRENCH\LENOVO\UNATTEND\
2. Copy the contents of the \SOURCE\COPYI386 folder (from your repository) into each source folder. This
yields the following files in each source folder:
X:\ULTRAPORTABLE\2000\FRENCH\LENOVO\UNATTEND\UNATTEND.W2K
X:\ULTRAPORTABLE\2000\FRENCH\LENOVO\UNATTEND\UNATTEND.WXP
