–3000 to 30000 for mV, V, mA, and slidewire

(minimum span = 2)

For thermocouple range limits, see thermo-
couple input specification on page 12.

(minimum span for:
types B, R, and S = 300°C, 540°F
types E, J, K, N, and T = 100°C, 180°F)

For RTD range limits, see RTD input
specifications on page 13.

(minimum span = 20°C, 36°F)

Settings for high and low engineering unit
values are determined by the specific process
measurement requirement. For example, if the
process input signal is 4 to 20 mA dc, and this
signal represents a flow measurement range of
0 to 580 gallons/sec., then the engineering unit
low setting would be 0 and the high setting
would be 580. If the process input signal is
degrees Celsius and the range of interest is
140 to 270 degrees, then the engineering unit
low setting would be 140 and the high setting
would be 270.

Engineering units determine the 0 and 100%
points for the process and set-point bar
displays, the input span for the control
algorithm, and for electrical inputs, the scaling
of the numeric process and set-point displays.
(Temperature inputs are always displayed in
degrees F or degrees C, regardless of the
engineering units entered.) Engineering units
can be used as a linear multiplier. By setting
the values at 0 and 58, for example, a scale
factor of 10 is achieved. With proper use of
the decimal, the units could be set at 0 and
0.58 for a scale factor of 1000.
