INSTALLATION

POWER CONNECTIONS

WARNING

Avoid electrical shock. AC power wiring must not be
connected at the distribution panel (ac source) until all
wiring procedures are completed.

All power wiring must be in compliance with the requirements of the National
Electrical Code or Canadian Electrical Code. In any installation where the
power source does not have one side of the line connected as a neutral
conductor, both sides of the line must be overcurrent protected.

The controller does not contain a power disconnect switch. Install a
disconnect switch or circuit breaker between the controller and its power
source. Choose an accessible location as near to the controller as practical,
and identify the switch or breaker as the disconnecting device for the
controller.

The ac power connections are made to the terminal block, Figure 2. Route
power cable from the bottom right of housing.

NOTE: A ferrite sleeve is included with instruments built for EU EMC
compliance (electrical code 12). Pass all power conductors through this 1-1/8"
sleeve and secure the sleeve as close as possible to the instrument using a tie
wrap or other means. This provides proper attenuation of electromagnetic
interference (EMI) in conformance with EU requirements.

Power specifications for the controller are:

Switcher Power Supply Input:
Instrument Power Code Z: 85-250 V rms, 47-440 Hz
Instrument Power Code A: 20-50 V dc, 20-35 V ac

Power Consumption (120V rms, 60 Hz): 20 W (45 VA) maximum

Supply Voltage Influence: ±0.1% for ±15% variations typical

Transient Overvoltages:

Classified as Installation (Overvoltage)

Catagory II per IEC 664 (specifies a maximum impulse withstand
voltage of 1500 V for phase to earth voltage of 150 Vrms)

Interruption: No effect from 2 cycle dropout at 120V rms, 60 Hz.

Interference: No permanent effect from exposure to IEC 801-4 fast

transients level 3, or IEC 801-5 surges level 3.

Internal Fuse:

4 amps, 250 V Slow Blow (DC version), soldered in
2.5 amps, 250 V Slow Blow (AC version), soldered in

External switch or circuit breaker rating:

DC: 3 amps 28 VDC;
AC: 1 amps, 250 VAC
