BASIC OPERATION
OPERATION USING DIGITAL INPUTS
Digital inputs 1 and 2 can be used to control auto/manual transfer,
acknowledge alarms, start totalization or ramp/soak operations, and select
between enabled local or remote set-points. This section discusses using
digital inputs for auto/manual transfer and set-point selection. For information
on totalization and rampsoak operations, refer to the Totalization Operation
and Ramp/Soak Operation sections.
Enabling Digital Inputs
Digital inputs must be set up in the DIGITAL INPUTS MENU and then enabled
in the DISPLAYS MENU to be used for any transfer or control operation. Use
the following steps to enable digital inputs:
1.
Go to the DISPLAYS MENU (enter password if requested).
2.
Place the instrument in manual.
3) Press scroll. This allows the digital
input enable prompt to be displayed in
the DISPLAYS MENU.
4) Press scroll until the third status
display reads [DI1] (or [DI2]) and the
lower engineering display reads
DISABLED.
5) Press the
UP
key to enable the
digital input.
6) Press scroll.
7) If the second digital input was
enabled in the DIG INPT MENU, it too
will have to be enabled in the
DISPLAYS MENU.
NOTE:
Digital input functions, except alarm acknowledge, are disabled
when a diagnostic alarm occurs.
Auto/Manual Transfer Using Digital Inputs
Either of the two digital inputs (but not both) can be used to select controller
auto or manual mode. A transfer from auto to manual using a digital input can
be configured to leave output at its current value or to set the output to a
configured fixed value. The digital input can also be configured to switch only
from auto to manual or to switch from either auto to manual or manual to auto.
