Setting Up Disk Journal and Journal.log File Handling for
Use with Audit Journal
Note: If Disk Journal is already set to Yes nothing further must need to be done. The site must
use the Shift Break Package and close shifts and days at a Profit Point console. The site
would very likely to have been printing End of Day Reports either on the console printer
or the logger printer. The site would have had a C:\SC3\Reports directory noted when
the
was performed. If the site had just a Journal.log
and Previous.log on the C:\SC3 directory the site was likely to have been using Method
1 described below and a Next Day command being executed through a Cron entry.
Disk Journal must be set to Yes in Sys_par for Audit Journal to function. This is generally a
change only for unattended sites. Method 1 or Method 2 must be used to control Journal.log
file storage. Use either Method 1 or Method 2 but not in addition to a Close Day run on a
console.
Turning On the Journal File
At the SC3 window enter SYS_PAR or SYS* press Enter. Page 1, Item 10, Disk Journal must
be set to Yes. Type Y and press Enter. Save the change to Sys_par type (uppercase) Y and
press Enter.
Note: You must always perform a Sysback and Tranback command before rebooting a
CFN III.
The CFN III must be rebooted for the change to take effect. Type REBOOT and press Enter.
Type Y and press Enter.
Setting Up the Cron Command for Journal.log File
Handling
Following are the two methods that can be used to properly control the Journal.log files.
NEXT DAY
The use of this command is the simplest but only stores a Journal.log and a Previous.log on the
C:\SC3 directory. It also does not require the technician to setup the Shift.fmt and Day.fmt
files. This method provides the least detailed Shift and Day report file information for future
use.
NEXTDAY 1
This command has the advantage of storing by default the last 10 Previous log files as well as
Shift and Day report files in the Reports directory. A very minimal Day.fmt and Shift.fmt file
must be created. If Shift or Day Reports printouts are not required they can be turned off.
