Before You Begin
3 – Before You Begin
This section is a summary to familiarize you with the installation process. Detailed procedures
are listed later in this manual or in the Appendices.
It is very important you read and understand the following section and the implications
before proceeding with the upgrade. Failure to do so could result in complete data loss
causing the installer to reload all site configuration and sales data as well as lacking
the information to set up the bank network.
PCI Security procedures must be observed and maintained. Gasboy manual

must be read and understood.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Use Windows XPE as the SC3 Tower Operating System (OS) for PCI compliance.
• Windows XPE can be installed on three Gasboy SC3 towers. The beige Trademark Tower
and the Model PA0366 and Model PA037 black towers can be upgraded.
• Microsoft
®
Windows XPE license provided by Gasboy will include the new
Windows XPE Product ID stickers that must be properly placed on the SC3 tower.
• For information about CFN III and Windows XPE restricted services to maintain PCI
compliance, refer to MDE-4759 CFN III Payment Application Best Practices
Implementation Requirements.
All files and folders on the current Windows NT hard drive will be lost.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Backing Up Data
Floppy Disk Backup procedure is required (refer to
procedure).
To complete the backup procedure, one to five blank formatted floppy disks are required.
When the SC3 tower is reimaged the hard drive will be reformatted and Windows XPE will be
loaded. SC3 board set memory board will be reconstructed during the upgrade from
version 3.4 to version 3.6 or later.
Note: All current files and folders on the hard drive will be irrecoverably lost.
