Log on as User “Administrator” as follows:

Click Start.
b
Click Shutdown.
c
Select “Log off gasboy” from the drop down box and click OK.

In the “User Name” field type administrator, (the default password for administrator is a
blank password field), press Enter.
Note: Administrator has full access to all loaded software and all Windows XPE
configuration screens.

Verify if the “Devices” are loaded properly, as follows:
a
Right-click on My Computer (upper left corner of monitor),

Click Manage.

Click Device Manager.

Click on the “+” sign next to a device category, to expand the list. Individual devices must
not show a yellow question mark.
Note: Exception, “Other devices” Game port and monitor may show yellow question
marks.

In particular verify the “Ports” (COM and LPT) and verify the correct communication ports
and COM assignments for the 2-port or the 4-port serial boards if installed. If you
right-click a port and select Properties, it must show if the port is working properly with
no error messages.

Verify if the “Display Adaptors” (video drivers) and “Sound” are installed properly.

The Trademark tower image disk by default loads both the Lava 2-port drivers and the
4-port Sea Level divers and software. If only the Lava 2-port board is installed it will be
assigned to COM Port 7 and 8. This must be corrected.

For each communication port, verify if the correct COM port is assigned and that the FIFO
(receive and transmit buffers for PC Loop Applications) settings are correct.
a
Click the “+” symbol next to “Ports” (COM &LPT), to expand the list. The first
2 ports will be the motherboard shown as just “Communications Port (COM1)” and the
same for (COM2). No changes to these 2 ports must be necessary including FIFO as long
as they were correctly recognized. Multi-port communication boards will show a dual
(port) (COM) assignment. It will show the first communication “Port” on the board
followed by the actual Windows XPE “COM” port assignment. For example, “VERSA
COMM+4.LP 4 Port RS-232 (Port 1) (COM3)”.
For example, Check and set of COM and FIFO for Lava.

Click the first Lava Port shown as “(Port 1)” (COM7).
