Fixing Folder Permissions

File and Folder Permissions

Appendix G: File and Folder Permissions

Directories BIN, SC3, and POS have XPE user permissions assigned for the “Gasboy” User.
The terms folder and directory are synonymous and are used interchangeably. The main
Gasboy directories must not be deleted, renamed, or overwritten in any manner. The entire
content of these directories can be copied to another directory, the content can be deleted but
the directory itself must not be disturbed.

If you delete all content of any of these directories and do not have a complete copy of
the contents, then you must reinstall the Gasboy software for those directories from the
CD.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

If the directories are disturbed, then the following process will correct the effected directory
folder permissions.

Fixing Folder Permissions

To fix a folder that lost the correct permissions due to improper file management, proceed as
follows.

Note: You must be logged on to Windows XPE as the Administrator.

1

Right-click Start and click Explore.

2

Highlight or click the folder in question (for example, C:\SC3:).

3

Right-click the SC3 folder in the left-hand pane.

4

Select Properties and then click the Security tab. At the bottom of the groups or names
section, there is a group named: USERS (CFN3\Users).

5

Enable the “Allow” check box for Full Control.

6

Click Apply > OK. All the boxes will now be checked for Modify, Read, Write as well as
some other options.

If permission problems continue to exist, contact the Gasboy Help Desk. The system may be
reimaged.
