Network Backup

Ensure that you have properly backed up the current PCI version of your network manual and
printed the current settings. Both procedures mentioned below must be completed.

Previous Network File Backup

Each network has its own method for backing up the configuration. Refer to the individual
network manual on the exact process. Generally networks that have a network menu screen
allow you to “Write Network Parameters to a File” and “Read Network Parameters from File”.
Due to network changes from a non-PCI version to an approved PCI version, this backup will
not restore properly.

Note: Networks that do not have a menu screen such as Buypass generally have their setting

stored in Sys_par. If you printed your configuration as recommended above you will
have the required information to reload the network after the update.

Network Print or Created File Backup Procedure

It is very important to create a printed version or a file that can be printed of the current
configuration. Two methods are known that will accomplish this.

Method 1

To get the file that can be printed of the current configuration, proceed as follows:

1

Select file “F” as displayed at the bottom of the screen.

2

Type in the file name.

3

Select Print Configuration and then press Enter key until you come back to the main menu
screen.

4

Ensure that you check the file created for completeness and then add that file to your backup
disk(s).

Note: If a log printer is available, you may print the file created by entering the command

“Log File (file name)” and press Enter.

Method 2

To get the file that can be printed of the current configuration, proceed as follows:

1

If you have a log printer, follow the command that brings the network main menu with the
redirection command “:>log” such as NBS:>LOG.

2

The screen will not show the selections made but the logger will print the selections made.

3

Select each required menu option, ensure that you get all pages, quit that menu, and then
choose and print any other required menu options.

Thoroughly check the file or printout created to ensure you have all the required network
information to reload the network after the upgrade.
