Creating the Recommended Folders
To create the recommended folders, proceed as follows:
1
Right-click Start.
2
Click Explore on the pop-up menu.
3
In the left pane, click Local Disk C: so that it is highlighted.
4
In the top left corner select File > New > Folder. A New Folder appears, highlighted in the
right pane.
5
Press Backspace and rename the folder.
Recommended Folder Naming Scheme
The recommendations to be followed when naming these folders:
• Use the current date, space SC3, example 101008 SC3.
• Create another folder. Rename it current date, space, and technician name. For example,
101008 TROY.
• If you have a Profit Point, create another folder. Rename it date space POS, for example,
101008 POS.
Note: We will refer to these three new folders as SC3 Backup, Technician Backup, and POS
Backup folders.
• You could also add to the naming scheme “begin” for beginning and “end” for end
indicating the beginning backup and ending backup. So the example would change to
“101008 begin Troy” and “101008 end Troy”.
It is strongly recommended that the files in the Technicians directory must be copied to a
floppy disk(s). Then, copy those files to a directory on the ASC’s laptop in a folder named
after the site. The backup floppy disk(s) created must then be given to the site manager to
provide them with a backup.
Creating the Recommended Backups
Technicians Folder
. Do not copy or compress the
reports directory. You may add additional folders under the Technicians Folder. Such as
POS1, POS2 in particular for the POSEXEC.BAT file located in C:\Bin, which is individual
by POS number. You may also copy and paste Master.Plu, Config.Pos, and Key_lay.pos, if
individual Profit Points have different Department/Stock Item, Keyboard, or Menu setups. As
an additional safety backup, you can now copy all the files in the Technicians Folder to a
floppy disk.
