Parameterisation of the drive
Many important configuration data are saved within the drive. SoftMotion offers the
possibility of defining parameter values in the control configuration, which are transferred
during the acceleration phase (see chapter
), however, this is difficult for
the normal user, as he usually does not know which parameters are to be transferred and
which value they are to receive. Thus for initial commissioning (also in the case of several
machines of the same series) and if drives are replaced, often the drive-specific tools are
required. Therefore a function is integrated within SoftMotion, which, at least to some
extent, carries out this task.
Therefore there are the following variants:
The user configures the drive with the tool of the drive manufacturer. He goes online
with a SoftMotion project where the drives are registered and calls a POU which reads
all drive parameters and saves them in a XML file which the user reads back from the
control system and imports into the corresponding configuration dialog. Then all
required parameters are saved within the project and are transferred at every start.
Neither for the initial commissioning of further machines nor for the replacement of a
defective drive the commissioning tool would be required.
The user configures the drive with the tool by the drive manufacturer. In his application
he provides the possibility to the user that he can save the parameters of the drive in
an ASCII file on the control system via an FB. In contrast to A, the parameters are stored
within a file on the control system and not within the application.
Both solutions have advantages and disadvantages: In order to alter a parameter later on
in the case of A, the project has to be downloaded again. In the case of B the change can be
effected, but it has to be observed that for every new commissioning either the parameter
files have to be stored on the control system, or the drive commissioning tool has to be
used.
