PIN Services, Mini Statement and Mobile Top Up Selected by BIN

The PIN Services (PIN Change and PIN Unlock), Mini Statement and Mobile Top Up (MPTU)

transaction types can now be selected by specific BINs in the ISO BIN table. The BINs to allow

or not allow these transactions are configured in Management Functions in the ISO/Surcharge

Properties configuration dialog (Management => Terminal Configuration => ISO/Surcharge

Properties).

The ISO properties dialog now includes an ISO action named ‘Screen Action’. When this

action is selected, a drop down list will be displayed in the ‘Value’ area. For the UK screen file,

this list will include the following options:

Allow PIN Change

Allow PIN Unlock

Allow Mini Statement

Allow MPTU

Block PIN Change

Block PIN Unlock

Block Mini Statement

Block MPTU

These values can be used along with the corresponding Optional Screens settings to control the

display of the PIN Services (PIN Change and PIN Unlock), Mini Statement and Mobile Top Up

transactions. The general approach is to set a default behavior for a transaction type (by enabling

or disabling in the Optional Screens dialog), then configure a set of BINs that will allow the

opposite behavior.

For example, to restrict the availability of the PIN Services transaction types to a set of BINs,

first use the Optional Screens dialog to turn the selected PIN Service (PIN Change or PIN

Unlock) transaction type OFF. Next, use the ISO Properties dialog to add a list of BINs with the

“Allow PIN Change” or “Allow PIN Unlock” value, as applicable. With this configuration the

terminal will restrict the display of the selected PIN Service transaction type to the BIN list.

Alternatively, if you wish to block PIN Services for a set of BINs, use the Optional Screens

dialog to turn the applicable PIN Service transaction type ON, then use the ISO Properties dialog

to add a list of BINs with the “Block PIN Change” or “Block PIN Unlock” value, as applicable.

With this configuration the terminal will NOT display the selected PIN Service transaction type

for the BIN list.

A similar approach can be applied to the Mini Statement and Mobile Top Up transaction types.
