(4) Reverse Polling
Reverse Polling involves a combination of standard transmission and
Polling Reception. After documents are transmitted to their
destination, documents that were pre-set in that other party’s fax are
transmitted automatically to the fax initiating the call (Polling
Reception).
* Reverse Polling is only possible if the other party has first
performed the necessary Polling Transmission operations.
(Refer to page 4-5.)
* If a start time is scheduled for the Reverse Polling operation,
the Direct Feed Transmission mode will not be available.
* If you want to cancel the procedure part way through, press the
Reset key. The operation panel will return to the initial mode settings.
1. Set the documents you want to transmit.
2. Raise both cover plates and press the POLLING key.
The “Polling communication” menu will appear in the message
display.
3. Use the cursor up or the cursor down key to select “Reverse
polling”.
4. Press the Enter key.

5. Enter the fax number of the other party.
* You can enter the fax number using the keypad, abbreviated
numbers, one-touch keys or the directory. Chain dial keys can be
used as well. However, you CANNOT enter the number of the
other party’s fax with abbreviated numbers or one-touch keys
that have been designated for F-Code Based Communication or
Encrypted Transmission.
* If you want to designate a time for the operation to begin,
press the DELAYED TX. key. The letter “T” will be displayed in
the first line of the message display. For more detailed
information regarding communications that use the timer, refer to
“Communication Using the Timer”, page 2-9.
6. Press the Enter key.
7. Press the Start key. The Reverse Polling operation will begin
automatically.
* If a time for the operation to begin was designated,
the Reverse Polling operation will begin when the appointed time
is reached.
