Section 1 Basic Use of this Fax

SRDF (Sheet-Thru Reversing Document Feeder)…Multiple
pages set in the SRDF will be automatically fed one by one for
transmission.

Original table…Set the documents you want to transmit on this
table. Up to 70 sheets of up to A4 size plain paper (B4 or A3: up
to 50 sheets) can be set at one time.

Original insert guides…Adjust these guides to match the width
of the documents.

Left cover…Open this cover when a document jams.

Top cover…Documents are ejected onto this cover after being
scanned.

Eject guide…Open this guide when transmitting documents of a
large size such as B4 or A3.

SRDF open/close lever…Operate this lever when opening and
closing the SRDF.

Original set indicator…This indicator indicates the status of the
documents set in the SRDF. Documents are set properly when
the indicator is lit green.

Operation panel…Use the operation panel to perform the
procedures required for fax communication.

Cover plates…These two plates can be raised or lowered by
grasping the tab in order to access the desired one-touch key
number. Raise both plates as well in order to use the various
“function” keys (BROADCAST key, etc.).

Copy store section…Received documents are ejected and
stored face-down in the copy store section. Up to 250 sheets of
plain paper (80 g/m
2
) can be stored in this section.

Drawers…This fax machine comes standard with two drawers
installed. Each drawer can hold up to 550 sheets of plain paper
(80 g/m
2
). Refer to the Instruction Handbook for your copier for
more detailed information regarding the use of the drawers.

Multi-Bypass (optional)…When the optional Multi-Bypass is
installed on this machine, paper can be set here as well. Refer to
the Instruction Handbook for your copier for more detailed
information regarding the use of the Multi-Bypass.

Telephone jack (T)…Use this jack to connect a separately
purchased telephone to the fax.
[NOTE] This jack is not available in the Netherlands or in Ireland.

Line jack (L)…Use this jack to connect the fax to a telephone line
using the modular cord.

Service switch…Turn this switch ON ( | ) when you first use this
machine. When this switch is turned ON, fax reception will be
possible even when the main switch is turned OFF. (There is
normally no need to turn this switch OFF (O).)

Main switch…Turn this switch ON ( | ) in order to perform fax
and copy operations. The message display will light and
operation will be possible.
