(3) Continuous Polling Reception

Continuous Polling Reception refers to that method of polling
whereby reception from a number of transmitting fax machines can
be accomplished automatically, in repeated cycles and with a
designated time interval between those cycles.
For example, if you want to poll documents from fax machines
designated as “A”, “B”, “C” and “D”, in that order, polling reception
will be accomplished as follows: Reception from A

B

C

D,

Wait the designated time interval, Reception from A

B

C

D,

Wait the designated time interval, Reception from A

B

C

D

and so on. (Refer to “(2) Polling Reception”, page 4-6.)

* Two separate Continuous Polling Reception operations CANNOT

be scheduled at the same time.

* Continuous Polling Reception is only possible if all of the

transmitting parties have first performed the necessary Polling
Transmission operations. (Refer to “(1) Polling Transmission”,
page 4-5.)

* The start and shut-off times for the Continuous Polling Reception

operation must be set to within a single 24 hour period.
If no shut-off time is registered, the Continuous Polling Reception
operation will continue indefinitely until the cancelling procedure is
performed.

* You can modify the information relating to a scheduled Continuous

Polling Reception. The scheduled start and shut-off times,
the designated time interval and the transmitting fax numbers can
all be changed. (Refer to “(3) Modifying the Contents of the
Communication”, page 2-11.)

* If all of the transmitting fax numbers are entered using abbreviated

numbers, one-touch keys and/or group dial keys, this fax is capable
of automatically receiving documents from up to 280 different fax
machines in a single operation. However, you CANNOT enter the
number of a transmitting fax with abbreviated numbers or
one-touch keys that have been designated for Encrypted
Transmission.

* If you want to perform the operation as an F-Code Based

Communication, refer to “

If you are going to designate this fax

number for an F-Code Based Bulletin Board Polling Reception…”,
page 4-6.

* If you want to completely cancel a Continuous Polling Reception,

refer to “(4) Deleting the Communication”, page 2-14, and
perform the procedure described there.

* If you want to cancel only the polling cycle currently in progress,

hold down the ALTERNATE DISPLAY key and press the
Stop/Clear key. The next polling cycle will be accomplished as
scheduled.
Note: One polling cycle refers to one complete reception from

each of the designated faxes in order.
[Ex. Reception from A through D, as in the example above.]

* If you want to cancel the procedure part way through, press the

Reset key. The operation panel will return to the initial mode settings.
