Section 1 Basic Use of this Fax
Initiating the fax transmission
Press the Start key.
* The transmission operation will begin automatically.
> Checking the status of the transmission
Raise both cover plates and hold down the ALTERNATE
DISPLAY key. The status of the transmission currently in
progress will be shown in the message display during the time
that this key is held down.
Once you release the ALTERNATE DISPLAY key, the
message display will return to its previous state.
> Stopping the transmission in progress
To stop the transmission in progress, raise both cover plates,
hold down the ALTERNATE DISPLAY key and press the
Stop/Clear key. The transmission will be cancelled.

When any documents you want to transmit are set on the platen,
the “Original size” menu will appear in the message display once
you press the Start key. In this case, perform the following procedure.
* If there are also documents set in the SRDF, the detected size of
the documents set in the SRDF will take priority over those on the
platen.
* If you want to cancel the procedure part way through, press the
Stop/Clear key. The operation panel will return to the initial mode
settings.
1 If the document size indicated in the message display does not
match the actual size of the document set on the platen, use the
cursor up or the cursor down key to select the correct size.
* If you select the size of the first document but do not press the
Enter key within a certain amount of time, the Auto Clear
function will engage and will automatically clear the selected
document size.
2 Press the Enter key.
4 Scroll through the menu with the cursor up or the cursor down
key and select whether or not you want to scan more pages into
memory.
> If you DO want to scan more pages, set the next page to be
scanned on the platen and select “Yes”. Then press the Enter
key and repeat the procedure from step
1 .
* If the fax is in the Direct Feed Transmission mode and you do
not set another document, the alarm will sound.
> If there are no further pages to be scanned, select “No” and
then press the Enter key. The fax will automatically begin
transmission of all of the documents scanned into memory.
3 Press the Start key. Scanning of the document will begin.
* If the fax is in the Direct Feed Transmission mode, the scanned
document will immediately be sent to the destination party.
