Operating in Multi-head Mode

Multi-head mode allows multiple BL/SR/RF Series devices to be controlled as one device.
The N-410 settings must match those of the BL/SR/RF Series devices that it is connected to.

Trigger Notification Method

Select the trigger input method from the N-410 to the connected BL/SR/RF Series devices.
Set the settings to match the configuration of the network connected to the N-410.
1.Normal (sequential) notification

Use this setting if the network configuration has the BL/SR/RF Series devices connected to the
N-410 through an N-R4, N-48 and BL-U1.

2.Broadcast notification

Use this setting if the network configuration has the BL/SR/RF Series devices connected to the
N-410 through an NX-50RS. This is useful if there are many BL/SR/RF Series devices on the
network, or if the RF Series devices are handling a large amount of data.

Use normal (sequential) notification if you have both N-R4/N-48/BL-U1 and
NX-50RS communication units on the network.

3.Interference suppression (Only available for multi-head mode on a BL (SR) Series network)

Multi-head mode normally activates all of the BL Series or SR Series device light sources at the
same time.
When this happens, if the distance between code readers is small, the laser (LED) of one code
reader can be sensed by the photoreceptor of a nearby device, causing interference. This can
result in inability to read or instability (Interference will definitely result if the laser (LED) from
device overlaps the laser from another device).
As shown on the next page, interference suppression prevents the connected code readers from
illuminating at the same time, instead illuminating the lasers (LEDs) in order of ascending ID number. This
prevents interference between the lasers and allows much greater reading stability.
Operational differences that depend on the read mode and the measurement format are the
same as for normal multi-head mode.

Caution
