PLC Link
A PLC link allows the N-410 to use the RS-232 interface to write directly to the internal memory
(data memory, data register) of a PLC (programmable controller).
No communications program is necessary for the N-410 to write directly to the PLC internal
memory, so fewer man-hours are spent on programming.
There are several limitations when using a PLC link instead of serial communications.
• RF-500/RF-550 devices cannot be connected to the N-410 when using a PLC link.
• The settings of an N-410 connected over a PLC link cannot be changed.
• Commands cannot be sent to BL Series or SR Series devices connected to the N-410.
However, read start and stop commands can be sent through the read control address.
• Commands cannot be sent to the N-410. In other words, functions such as starting auto-
polling, registering ID numbers cannot be performed through the PLC. Use the AutoID
Navigator to register ID numbers.
• Because communication takes a great deal of time, this is not geared towards high-
speed production lines.
