Settings: Always Active
EMP is always enabled. COM2 cannot be used by operating system.
Option: EMP Restricted Mode Access
If set to Enabled, the Power on/off and Reset server controls are no longer
available via EMP.
Option: EMP Direct Connect/Modem Mode
Sets how EMP connects to the server. Direct Connect means a null modem
serial cable directly connects the COM2 port to the EMP console machine.
Modem Mode means the server’s COM2 port is connected to an external
modem.
If you change any of the settings, you must save the configuration when you
exit the SSU program to have the changes take effect.
To connect a modem or a serial cable to the COM2 port for a remote console:
1 Select Server, then select Console Redirection.
2 Select 2F8 for the Com Setting.
Setting up the EMP console
The console’s serial port must be connected to an external modem or linked
directly to the server via a serial cable.
1 Start Windows NT, and log in with the Administrator password or a user ID
having equivalent rights.
2 Insert the diskette labeled EMP Console Application into the floppy disk
drive.
3 Execute the command:
SETUP
The EMP client is installed.
Running the EMP client
When you select EMP Console in the Start menu, the EMP Console menu
appears on the screen.
To connect to the server:
1 Select Action, then Phonebook.
2 Enter the server name and phone number in the submenu, and save the
configuration.
