User Guidelines

IGMP snooping querier can be enabled on a VLAN only if IGMP snooping is enabled for that VLAN.

No more then one switch can be configured as an IGMP Querier for a VLAN.

When IGMP Snooping Querier is enabled, it starts after host-time-out/2 with no IGMP traffic detected from a
Multicast router.

The IGMP Snooping Querier disables itself if it detects IGMP traffic from a Multicast router. It restarts itself after
host-time-out/2.

Following are the IGMP Snooping Querier parameters as function of the IGMP Snooping parameters:

QueryMaxResponseTime: host-time-out/15

QueryInterval: host-time-out/ 3

Example

.The following example configures Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) querier on a specific VLAN.

ip igmp snooping querier address

The ip igmp snooping querier address Interface Configuration mode command defines the source IP address
that the IGMP Snooping querier uses. Use the no form of this command to return to default.

Syntax

ip igmp snooping querier address ip-address

no ip igmp snooping querier address

Parameters

This command has no arguments or keywords.

Default Configuration

If an IP address is configured for the VLAN, it is used as the source address of the IGMP snooping querier.

Command Mode

Interface Configuration (VLAN) mode

User Guidelines

If an IP address is not configured by this command, and no IP address is configured for the IGMP querier VLAN
interface, the querier is disabled.
