• 1: The default value is 10. If you want to increase the number of volume groups, manually change the value of the
maxvgs kernel parameter according to the relevant OS documentation.
• 2: Not including logical volumes for the JFS log.
• 3: If a factor is specified (from 1 to 16) to change the maximum number of physical partitions when creating a volume
group, the maximum number changes to the result of the following formula:
• 1 divided by the value specified for the factor
• 4: In Windows ® , this includes the number of the drive letter characters.
• 5: In the Logical Volume Manager for AIX ® , the information about a logical volume (LVCB) stores up to 128
