• When multiple physical volumes or partitions create one volume group.
• When multiple logical volumes exist in one volume group.
• When one file system is mounted on multiple mount points.
Provisioning Manager can also display snapshot volumes, which look like logical volumes.
NOTE: Provisioning Manager cannot display information about volume groups or file systems created in md
devices.
4-5-4 Notes on Md Devices
If an md device is created, Provisioning Manager displays the LDEVs corresponding to the md device as
unused LDEVs. To avoid operational errors, the LDEVs corresponding to md devices must be excluded from
the storage pools of logged-in users.
In some configurations using an md device, Provisioning Manager does not correctly display information about
elements that are on the md device. For example, in
Figure 4-2 , Provisioning Manager does not correctly
display information about file systems (FS), logical volumes (LV), and volume groups (VG) that are on the md
device.

Provisioning Manager functionality can be used to ensure more flexible operations within existing systems.
4-5-5-1 Using Linux Command Utility Parameters
During system startup, Provisioning Manager checks file systems for errors as a countermeasure for events
such as abnormal system termination that may occur when file systems are being added. For this reason, the
command utility parameters shown below are changed from their initial settings. If you are manually setting the
attributes for file system checking during system startup, make changes to /etc/fstab. Enter appropriate
values in accordance with the input format supported by your OS.
