11-1 Troubleshooting Procedures During Setup Operations

If a problem occurs while you are creating a file system or performing some other setup operation, setup
processing may stop abruptly. This section explains the troubleshooting procedures that can be applied when
you are using GUI operations to perform setup operations.

When setup fails (section

11-1-1

)

When setup is interrupted (section

11-1-2

)

11-1-1 When Setup Fails

If a failure occurs during setup, you must check the progress of the setup processing that was interrupted and
determine the cause of the error. You must then manually perform a recovery operation. The following manual
recovery operations are provided:

Manually perform the processing that follows the failed processing (section

11-1-1-1

).

Manually execute the remaining steps in the failed operation. This method can be effective when most of
the steps in a series of setup operations have been completed and only a few remain.

Manually cancel the processing that preceded the failed processing (section

11-1-1-2

).

Manually cancel the processing that preceded the failed processing, and then re-execute all the steps
from the start by using Provisioning Manager. This method is appropriate when only a few steps in a
series of setup operations have been completed, so that only a few steps have to be canceled.

The troubleshooting procedure for each of these methods is explained below.

11-1-1-1 Recovering Manually from Failed Processing

To recover manually from failed processing:

1.

From the navigation frame, open the tree and select Transaction Logs. The information frame displays
the List Objects - Transaction Logs subwindow. View the list of operation logs, and then confirm that the
setup operation status is Failed.

2.

Select the Summary of Operation for the setup operation. The Details - Transaction Log dialog box is
displayed.

3.

View the detailed information in the operation log, and then check the item in which the failure occurred
and also check the error message.

4.

From the error message and the product status, check the error cause and the status of the setup item in
which the failure occurred. Remove the error cause if necessary.

5.

Manually complete any setup operation that was interrupted by the error.

6.

In the Details - Transaction Log dialog box, check the items that have not been executed.

7.

Manually perform setup for the target product.

11-1-1-2 Manual Cleanup after Failed Processing

If processing fails, manually cancel the operation that was interrupted by failure as follows:

1.

From the navigation frame, open the tree and select Transaction Logs. The information frame displays
the List Objects - Transaction Logs subwindow. View the list of operation logs, and then confirm that the
setup operation status is Failed.

2.

displayed.
