9.1 Outline
Software is updated by transferring an update file from the remote operation
terminal of PC to a router and executing an update command (ppupdate). A format
command (format mc) must be executed during installation.
Updating
Updating is upgrading the software to a new version.
Updating is performed by transferring an update file to the router and executing
a ppupdate command. For updating, the router configuration definition
information and user information (login account and password) are inherited
directly.
Installation
Installation is newly installing software in the MC of a reserve MC slot
(secondary).
Installation is reserve by transferring an update file to the router, formatting the
MC of a preliminary MC slot using a format mc command, and executing a
ppupdate command for the reserve MC. For installation, the router configuration
definition information and user information are set to initial state (factory setting
state). Only reserve MC can be installed.
Both updating and installation are performed by transferring an update file in
CD-ROM to a router and then executing a ppupdate command.
