Check out the DLCI status using a show frame-relay command. The remedy
for DLCI status is shown in the table below.

Check out the status of the subject peer using a show frame-relay command. The
remedy for the peer status is shown in the table below.

1 active 1. Encapsulation format setting might be
incorrect on the destination device. If so,
it counts up “In unknown protos” in the
statistics information displayed by the
line or timeslot parameter of the show
interfaces command.
2. The max_packet_size setting in Frame
Relay configuration information of this
router might be below packet length that
destination device transmits. If so, it
counts up “In over maximum length
frames” in the statistics information
displayed by the show frame-relay
command.
3. Destination device might not recognize
DLCI to this router, or DLCI settings of
the destination device might be
incorrect.
1. Set encapsulation format of destination
device to IETF(RFC1940 or RFC2427).
2. Set max_packet_size in Frame Relay
configuration information to the packet
length that destination device transmits.
3. Ensure that destination device settings are
correct. If this router is connected using
point to point, inspect PVC (DLCI)
connection by using the
ping frame-relay
command.
2 inactive Frame Relay network notifies this router of
error detection in destination device or
Frame Relay network.
1. PVC status inspection procedure status
of destination device might be down.
2. Line between Frame Relay network and
destination device might be failing.
3. Error might have occurred in Frame
Relay network.
1. Ensure that destination device settings are
correct.
2. Ensure that there is no connection failure
between Frame Relay network and
destination device. Router power might be
off or line might be closed.
3. Ensure with Frame Relay network server
that there is no network abnormality.
3 invalid Frame Relay network does not recognize
this DLCI. Ensure with Frame Relay network server that
Frame Relay network and connection
conditions are correct, and that setup of
Frame Relay network is completed so that this
DLCI can be used.
