Step 1.
Add a new BCU as a standby BCU to the router.
See Subsection 8.3.1, item 1, Step 3.
Step 2.
Register the CPU fan swap date and restart the device.
See Subsection 8.3.1, item 1, Step 4.
Step 3.
Change the operation mode of the device to enable the standby BCU.
A standby BCU in a router running in simplex mode will not function
because the standby BCU usually operates in duplex mode. To enable the
standby BCU, change the mode from simplex to duplex. For this purpose,
change your user status to router administrator and then enter the
following command from the device management terminal connected to the
active side.
#set mode duplex [CR]
To confirm the mode change, enter
show router
command and see if the
result appears as Figure 8-27.

WARNING: Hazardous voltage. Can cause death or severe injury. Removing/adding
component while power is on must be conducted by trained and qualified
engineer or maintenance personnel.
