7.4.3 ATM line cannot be connected
Check out the status of NIF and Line as described below when the cause of a
communication failure is judged to lie in ATM line.
7.4.3.1 Checkout on the Status
(a) NIF Status Checkout:
Checkout on the NIF status using show nif commands. Refer to Table 7-18.
(b) Line Status Checkout:
Checkout on the Line status using show interfaces commands. Refer to Table 7-19.

1 active The NIF is operating normally. Inspect line status according to Table 7-19.
2 mismatch For installed NIF, configured line cannot
be used under control of this NIF.
(Installed NIF and line configuration
information do not match.) Check whether installed NIF is correct, or line
configuration information is correct.
3 unused Line configuration information is not
defined under this NIF. Define configuration information for the line to
be used.
4 closed Operation of this NIF is suspended by the
close nif command. Ensure that the NIF board to be used is
installed, and set this NIF to active by using the
free nif command.
5 fault This NIF is faulty. Obtain the log message for the subject line
using show logging command, and take
necessary troubleshooting actions in
accordance with the obtained log message
(Chapter 5, “Log Messages,” in GR2000
Operations Log and MIB Reference).
6 initialized This NIF is restarting after error detection. Same as above.
7 locked Operation of this NIF is suspended by
configuration information. Ensure that the NIF board to be used is
installed, and set this NIF to active by altering
the configuration information.
