5.1.2.1 Physical interface
In connecting a line from the router to a network, execute a show interfaces
command and confirm that the display in display item is "active" (in
normal operation) and that the display in is "active up" (in normal
operation), when WAN line is used. For WAN T3 and WAN E3 multi-lines, moreover,
confirm that the display in is "active up" (in normal operation). For
WAN BRI, WAN PRI, WAN 6.3M interface, WAN T1, WAN T3, WAN E1, and WAN E3
lines, confirm that the display in is "active up" (in normal
operation).

5.1.2.2 PPP
When PPP is specified for the layer 2 protocol of an arbitrary physical interface,
execute a show interfaces command and confirm that the state display in detail
information display item LCP of Line or Timeslot is "up" (establishment). Also confirm
that the state display of each NCP is "up" (establishment) when the network protocol
shown in the table below is used.

5.1.2.3 Frame Relay
When Frame relay is specified for the layer 2 protocol of an arbitrary physical
interface, confirm the operational state with the procedure below.
