Confirming the DHCP/BOOTP relay agent function
The contents of confirmation when a DHCP/BOOTP relay agent function is set in the
router are as described below.
5.2.10.1
Confirmation after setting of configuration definition
(a) Confirmation of communication with DHCP/BOOTP server
Confirm using a ping command whether the router can communicate with the IP
address of a router that can make relay to the DHCP/BOOTP server set using a
configuration definition command (relay-list) or the network in which the DHCP/
BOOTP server exists.
(b) Confirmation of relay agent address
Execute a show dhcp giaddr command and confirm that the output IP address is
the IP address of the interface set using a configuration definition command
(relay-interface).
Figure 5-25 DHCP/BOOTP giaddr display
Execute a show dhcp giaddr command and confirm that the output IP address
coincides with "set IP address of the router to which the DHCP/BOOTP client is
connected". In particular, notice if the lastly defined IP address is set to interface as a
relay agent address when the setting of multihome exists in a client connection
interface. An example of configuration and execution is shown below.
