Confirming the operational state of ATM line
When ATM line is used in connecting a line from the router to a network, confirm the
operational state with the procedure below. See Subsection 7.4.3, “ATM line cannot
be connected” for measures to be taken when the operational state is abnormal.
1. Execute a show interfaces command and confirm that the display in display item
is "active up" (in normal operation).

2. Execute a show atm command and confirm that the display in display item state> is "up" (in normal operation). Figure 5-11 Example of display of VC state 3. When the remote router of VC supports an F5 OAM loop-back cell, execute a ping atm command and confirm whether the communication between relevant VCs Figure 5-12 Example of display of OAM F5 loopback cell response > show interfaces nif 0 line 0 2000/04/02 12:00:00 NIF0: active 1-port OC-3c/STM-1 ATM(multi-mode) retry:0 Line0: active up OC-3c/STM-1 ATM(multi-mode) Time-since-last-status-change:1:30:30 [Omitted hereinafter.] > > show atm nif 0 line 0 vpi 0 vci 32 2000/04/02 12:00:00 NIF0: active 1-port OC-3c/STM-1 ATM(multi-mode) retry:0 Line0: active up OC-3c/STM-1 ATM(multi-mode) [Omitted halfway] VPI0: PCR(VP Shaper) 10000kbps VPI0/VCI32: up PVC ALARM [Omitted hereinafter.] > > ping atm nif 0 line 0 vpivci 0 32 Data Received OAM-seq=0 Data Received OAM-seq=1 Data Received OAM-seq=2 Data Received OAM-seq=3 Data Received OAM-seq=4 >
