NSTALLATION
General
For specifications for the minimum recommended hardware and software plat-
form configuration to host the VMS, please refer to the VMS Release Notes for
the version of software that will be installed. Both Server and Client configura-
tions are provided.
The VMS software is installed using an Installation Wizard. Depending on the
desired setup, installation can be performed with the full set of files (both client
and server), client-only files, or server-only files. The Wizard guides the
installer through the installation process and provides all necessary information
to complete typical, compact, and custom installations.
The same procedure for installation of the VMS on a server is used for both
stand-alone and redundant configurations.
Caution: Installing VMS on non-recommended hardware or operating system
will void the support warranty. Also, VMS must be installed on a
dedicated server to retain support warranty.
Caution: Vipersat strongly recommends against running any kind of anti-virus
program on the VMS server. Instead, all Microsoft Windows Updates
should be installed as they become available. However, the
Automatic Updates function in Microsoft Windows must be properly
set to avoid possible disruption of the VMS and the Vipersat network.
